Biography

Yuval Rabin is a Managing Partner with Rabin, Sheves, Lipkin-Shahak, Birger Inc., a D.C. based consulting firm focused on bringing Israeli technologies and products to the U.S. Federal & Local Governments.

For three years, between his father, Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, Yuval Rabin was a conspicuous presence in Israeli politics. He was the Rabin heir, the child of the slain leader who was trying, with evident discomfort, to carry on the cause of peace.

He has held senior executive positions serving companies as diverse as AARP, The Principal Group, Visteon, Ericsson, Airbus Industries, Nokia, ARKLA (Arkansas Louisiana Gas), Samsung and the American Bureau of Shipping. Rabin truly espouses a global vision, having led initiatives for manufacturing and service companies, utilities and governments in the US, Israel, Europe and the Far East.

"The difference between politics in Israel and America is so stark,” Rabin says. “ They're reluctant to criticize the Israeli government -- any Israeli government. As for their understanding of his father's murder, Americans who are supposedly "involved" in Israel have largely put it down to "one crazy guy," he says. "They don't really treat it as a political assassination."

Yet unlike many others, the "al-Aksa intifada" has not disillusioned him about the chance of peace -- on the contrary. "The violence has only underlined the importance of the Oslo Accord and the need to reach a negotiated peace," he says.

His ambiguous approach to Israeli politics hasn't left him. Asked whether he'll re-enter the political arena, this public figure, who inherited an awesome legacy and couldn't decide whether to embrace or reject it, answers, "You know the saying -- in politics you never say never.

Yuval resides in Washington DC. Living in the United States has exposed him to a different perspective on that assassination, and on his country.
